NOVEMBER 2009 SPECIAL MEETING and GUEST SPEAKER

We have a very special guest speaker for the program at our November meeting: Fred Clarke from Sunset Valley Orchids in California. Because Fred will be in town only on Saturday, November 7, that’s when our meeting will be instead of the usual third Wednesday. It will be held at 3 p.m. at the Clubhouse in Woodstone subdivision.

Driving Directions to Woodstone Clubhouse:
The address is 950 Holystone. You can enter the subdivision only from Highland Road. Once you turn into the subdivision, go 0.6 miles on Woodstone Drive; turn right on Millstone Ave. and go 0.2 miles; Millstone ends at Holystone, where you must turn left. Holystone is just a short spur with the clubhouse at the end. There are only 3 or 4 houses on the street, and the Clubhouse is easy to spot. Call my cell phone at 317.0933 if you get lost, and I’ll help you get there. This should be a very interesting “not to miss” meeting. For those of you who may not know, Fred Clarke is the hybridizer of the famous black orchid “After Dark”, a catasetum hybrid. The genus for this plant is named after him, i.e. fredclarkeara. Those of you who get Orchids magazine can see a picture of it at the top of page 511 in the September issue. His web address is www.sunsetvalleyorchids.com. We will have our regular business meeting, raffle, election of officers, and refreshments at this meeting.
